Manchester United (MU) will face host Wolverhampton in week 3 of the English League or Premier League 2021/22, Sunday (29/8/2021). This match at Molineux Stadium could be Raphael Varane's debut as well as an opportunity for the Red Devils to carve a new record.
United started the season with a landslide 5-1 victory over Leeds United at Old Trafford, which saw a Bruno Fernandes hat-trick and four Paul Pogba assists. The following week, United only drew 1-1 with hosts Southampton, where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team goal by Mason Greenwood was created by Pogba's assist.
The result against Southampton means that United are unbeaten in their last 27 Premier League away games. United have also managed to equal Arsenal's 27-game unbeaten away streak in the English top flight, which was created between April 2003 and September 2004.
If they win or draw against Wolverhampton, then MU will carve a new record in the English league, which is 28 consecutive away games without being touched by defeat.
Wolverhampton, managed by new coach Bruno Lage, went through their first two games of the season with 1-0 defeats to Leicester (away) and Tottenham (home). MU's opportunity to win points at the Molineux Stadium later is considered quite open.
However, MU still needs to be vigilant. Because, in the middle of last week, Wolverhampton rediscovered their confidence. That was in line with a 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest through goals from Roman Saiss, Daniel Podence, Trincao, and Moragn Gibbs-White in the Carabao Cup.
